Just-Launched Sescoi Software Wins Award

This year, the prestigious Industrie show award for productivity excellence has gone to Sescoi, which was recognized for its new WorkXPlore 3D software. Sescoi launched WorkXPlore 3D in the French market at Industrie in early April and will be launching it in the UK at the MACH show in Birmingham this month.

WorkXPlore 3D is advanced high-speed software for project collaboration. It allows viewing, markup, analysis, and 3D visualization of 3D models and 2D designs from major CAD packages. Users can import files through a wide range of interfaces, including CATIA V5, Parasolid, Unigraphics, Pro/Engineer, SolidWorks, IGES, STEP, and STL, and then combine them into a single 3D mock-up for shared interrogation and analysis prior to creation of a physical prototype.

Bruno Marko, Sescoi’s chairman and founder, conveyed delight at winning the important award. “Data sharing and collaboration play a crucial role in good design,” he said. “WorkXPlore 3D is a cost-effective way of enabling this, opening large CAD files at an incredible speed, and it will help companies to bring well-engineered products to market sooner.”

Unlike many CAD viewers, Sescoi’s new software can handle extremely large models with ease, while its extensive markup, dimensioning, and analysis functions find features such as volumes, flat surfaces, and draft angles, which is important for product performance and accurate costing. For exploded views and assembly methods, WorkXPlore 3D can animate the movement of components and view sections, making it simple to understand the parts and processes required to build a product.

WorkXPlore 3D will be available in various versions, ranging from a free viewer to the full Manufacturing Pro version that includes all native CAD translators. Sescoi expects to make it available in six languages by the end of 2008, and to roll it out to all major international markets.
