Five Axis Machining is a mode of cnc machining.According to ISO, the right cartesian coordinate system is used to describe the movement of nc machine tools.Where, the coordinate axis parallel to the principal axis is defined as the z axis, and the rotation coordinates around the X, Y and Z axis are A, B and C respectively. The motion of the axes can be realized by the table or by the motion of the tool, but the direction is defined by the direction of the tool’s motion relative to the workpiece.Generally, five-axis linkage refers to the linear interpolation motion of any 5 coordinates in X, Y, Z, A, B and C.In other words, five axes, X, Y, and Z plus any two axes of rotation.Compared with the common three-axis (X, Y, Z three degrees of freedom) machining, five-axis machining refers to the machining of parts with complex geometric shapes, which requires machining tools to be able to position and connect on the five degrees of freedom.
The machine tools used in five-axis machining are often called five-axis machine tools or five-axis machining centers.Five-axis machining is often used in aerospace field, machining body parts, turbine parts and impeller with free-form surface, etc.The five-axis machine tool can process the different sides of the workpiece without changing the position of the workpiece on the machine tool, which can greatly improve the machining efficiency of prismatic parts.
